 About .my DOMAIN REGISTRY

.my DOMAIN REGISTRY (legal entity of Mynic Berhad with Company Registration No: 735031-H) is an agency under Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and is regulated by Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

.my DOMAIN REGISTRY is the sole administrator for web addresses that end with .my in Malaysia. As the national level domain name, .my DOMAIN REGISTRY provides Malaysian organization and individuals their unique brand identity on the Internet. We register a wide range of domain names i.e. .my, .com.my, .org.my, .net.my, .edu.my, .gov.my, .mil.my and .name.my.

We have a network of authorized resellers nationwide, working 24x7 to assist in registering and billing activities of domain names. Our resellers are also experts in providing one-stop services for all web and Internet needs. Amongst the services provided are :-

  1. website development
  2. creating email accounts
  3. web hosting
  4. web design
  5. annual renewal of domain names

In addition, .my DOMAIN REGISTRY holds the responsibility of developing top level domain policies and is always in the forefront of domain name technologies, carrying out research projects such as per below:-

  1. IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6)
  2. DNSSEC (Domain Name Server Security Extensions)
  3. ENUM (Telephone Number Mapping)
  4. Anycast and IDN (Internationalised Domain Names)
  5. Promoting and training activities for the usage of the technologies above

We take a forward thinking approach in addressing rapid evolving domain technologies as we are dedicated to helping Malaysians reaching out to the world via the use of .my domain.

In the area of ICT outreach and awareness, .my DOMAIN REGISTRY’s team had brought themselves to involve in a programme that targeted to close the gender gap in Technopreneurship and to train business women from SME via our community project called 1nita. The project was launched in March 2010 by the Minister of MOSTI, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, with the prime objective to provide exposure, training and opportunity for business women in our country towards using online tools and techniques as one of the alternatives mode to market their products and services.

The 1nita Project successfully trained 999 participants, through its portal approximately 4,000 products and 1,300 services are being marketed, and the finale for this project was Karnival 1Nita that was launched by the Prime Minister’s wife, Yang Berbahagia Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor in December 2010. The outcome from this project, 871 online presences of domain addresses with .my has been generated and we have co-produced the “Pembangunan e-Usahawan: Satu Panduan” book with EKOM, UKM, to further assist the entrepreneurs with the application of the online tools and techniques.

At .my DOMAIN REGISTRY, we ensure our stakeholders – the government, the businesses and the public are given the best care, service and support of their Internet Identity with Trust, Confidence and Security – the three main thrusts of our working philosophy.

 What .my DOMAIN REGISTRY does?

.my DOMAIN REGISTRY is an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and is regulated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commissions (MCMC).

.my DOMAIN REGISTRY administers the name space for the .my top level domain (TLD). This involves the registration of domain names as well as the maintenance and operation of a domain name registry (a central database for .my domain names).

.my DOMAIN REGISTRY administers eight (8) domain name categories , namely:

  • .my - for Malaysian individuals and organizations
  • .com.my - for commercial organisation/activities
  • .net.my - for network-related organisations/activities
  • .org.my - for organisations/activities which do not qualify for other categories
  • .edu.my - for Malaysian educational organisations only
  • .gov.my - for Malaysian government organisations only
  • .mil.my - for Malaysian military organisations only
  • .name.my - for Malaysian individual’s personal use only
